Getting back on your feet again

If you’ve already tried medications, physical therapy, orthotics or other “conservative care” treatments and you’re still not getting relief, call to find out about the clinical research study for a new investigational device that may be of benefit to you.

Chances are, getting back on your feet could require a surgical fusion procedure. New materials, such as GEM OS®1, may offer options.

GEM OS1 is a combination of a protein that is found naturally in your body and a synthetic (man-made) bone material, both of which have been previously approved by the FDA. This product is intended to promote new bone formation to enhance healing at the affected area in your ankle or hindfoot. Traditionally, a second surgery is required to harvest bone from your own body (usually from your leg or hip) to stimulate healing. Thus GEM OS1 may provide an alternative that would eliminate the pain and problems associated with a second surgery.

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with a hindfoot or ankle condition that may require fusion, call the nurse-staffed information line for more information or to determine eligibility.

Call the nurse-staffed information line 1-866-921-6996 Mon–Thurs., 7 am–7 pm and Friday, 7 am–6 pm, CST for more information or to find out if you might be eligible to participate in this clinical research study.

Foot Fact:
The 52 bones in your feet make up about one-fourth of all the bones in your body.
